BONSERNEWS.com – SCTV Music Awards, also known as SMA, is an award event given by Surya Citra Media as a prestigious annual event.
This event is intended for Indonesian musicians, both those who have been active for a long time and those who are new, as a form of appreciation for the work they have presented to the country’s music industry.
This award event is held every year by SCTV and started since 2003.

Voters are only given the opportunity to choose 1 nomination in each predetermined category. SCTV Music Awards is one of the highest award events for the music industry in Indonesia after the Indonesian Music Award.
In 2020 and 2021, the SCTV Music Awards will be canceled due to the COVID-19 Pandemic in Indonesia. However, this event will return in 2022 with due observance of health protocols.

After holding the SCTV Awards, SCTV plans to hold the SCTV Music Awards for the first time in 2003.
This activity is expected to be an alternative arena for Indonesian musicians. Or at least give appreciation to musicians who have taken part or newcomers.
Therefore, since December 20 2002, SCTV has held the Road to SCTV Awards 2003 event as a preliminary event for the recipients of this award.
In the first year of implementation, SCTV has selected 20 song nominations based on cassette sales figures with the cassette distribution period from November 2001 to 2002.
All nominations will be displayed at the Road to SCTV Awards event every Saturday night at 22.00-23.00 WIB. In this mini-concert event, viewers are asked to choose a musician they like.
The results of the audience’s choice will later become the basis for selecting the winner. For this reason, SCTV will give awards in the form of trophies or trophies to the top three albums chosen by viewers, namely selected songwriters, selected newcomers, and selected video clips.
