Establishment of the Central Intelligence Service (CIA): The President of the United States, Harry S. Truman, signed the National Security Act creating the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) to coordinate national intelligence activities.

Apollo 11 Mission Lands on the Moon: The Apollo 11 lunar module, crewed by Neil Armstrong and Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin, lands safely on the Moon’s surface, making Armstrong the first human to set foot on the Moon.
5. July 18, 1984
Brighton Hotel Bombing: IRA terrorists detonated a bomb at the Brighton Hotel in Brighton, England, where the United Kingdom’s Conservative Party was holding a conference. Although Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher survived, five people died in this attack.
